Los Retros is the musical project of Mauricio "Mauri" Tapia, a first-generation Mexican-American multi-instrumentalist from Oxnard, California. Since his early teens, Tapia has composed, performed, and recorded all instruments from his home studio, drawing inspiration from American and Latin American left-field pop and soft rock of the 1970s and 80s. The project name pays homage to Chilean pop band Los Angeles Negros. Best known for the viral single "Someone to Spend Time With," which earned RIAA gold certification in 2024, Los Retros is signed to Stones Throw Records.
